ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The much-requested soundtrack to Moonfish Theatre Company’s acclaimed show Star of the Sea is here. The Moonfish Theatre ensemble have produced a haunting and evocative album of traditional songs and music from their stage adaptation of the Joseph O’Connor novel Star of the Sea. The production, which premiered at the Galway International Arts Festival in 2014, was subsequently invited to the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2015 and has toured extensively since then. In that time it has garnered praise for "Possibly the most multi-talented ensemble to be found anywhere" (The Examiner). Recorded in 2017 before embarking on their U.S. tour, this album offers full versions of songs and tunes promised in snatches and whispers throughout the show. O’Connor’s book is brimming with musical hints which Moonfish has brought to life in their stage show and now is captured in its entirety on this album.
