Previously the comedic songwriter known to Seattle’s bustling cabaret scene, this formerly “Naked Folksinger”, Moorea Malatt, turns family friendly (for good!) with Whip It Out: Songs for Breastfeeding in 2011. The album boasts not just words of support for breastfeeding mothers but also motherly inside-jokes, brilliantly effective modern lullabyes, a song for postpartum depression and even a friendly shout-out to non-breastfeeding families like stay-at-home dads, alternative and adoptive families.
Moorea created this album as a way to keep sane during her first nine months of extreme sleep deprivation as her infant daughter was diagnosed with central sleep apnea and the family tried to find cause and cure. Part of the proceeds of each CD go to both La Leche League and Best for Babes to support breastfeeding for health and wellbeing of mamas and babies around the world. This is the first in a long line of family albums to come.
