Album Notes
Jim Moreno is a member of San Diego's Langston Hughes Poetry Circle and a past board member of the African American Writers & Artists. He teaches poetry workshops for gang youth in juvenile detention lockups, children in afterschool programs, and adults who are beginning or practiced poets. Moreno has been published in City Works, The Langston Hughes Poetry Anthology, The Magee Park Poets Anthology, the poetry conspiracy, Tidepools, and others. He performs with The Three Deuces, a jazz trumpet, dance, and spoken word ensemble with jazz trumpeter Mitch Manker and dancer/choreographer Michael Tompkins He is the director of the Encanto Boys and Girls Club Children's Poetry Choir in Southeast San Diego.

Eusi Kwayana, his friend and fellow artist who wrote the Introduction to Moreno's book "Dancing In Dissent" (www.jimpoet.com)states: “ Moreno is not only like all poets, a person with a passion, he is a poet characterized by passion…as a Vietnam Veteran...he is over-certified to feel on these issues.” "Dancing in Dissent" and his cd "reversing the erased: exhuming the expunged" are an artivist’s (artist & activist) voice, resonating with the legacy of Langston Hughes, a voice of freedom against injustice and oppression.

Cool reggae on Carma!
I'm a reggae nut and the poem Carma really was set to cool music. I like this cd because he has music on some of the poems but lets the weight of his words be the music for the rest of the poems. Drop Bush Not Bombs!
