ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Songs From The Applecart is the result of an intense twelve month writing period. On the first Sunday of every month in a pub deep in the heart of the East End of London Phil and I told stories. Over the year we presented twelve stories with over thirty songs. A storyteller and a songwriter both actors telling tales of mystery, beauty, depth and challenge. The stories wrote the songs and this album is just twelve of them.

My producer friend Ben and I went to the country to record them. Away from the police sirens of the inner city, the Cornish coast line is imposing and daunting - the perfect setting to record an album. Occasionally I would escape to a secluded bay and try and unwind, but most nights we'd sweat over a hot mixer till three in the morning.

I'm proud of this album. Friendships were deepened in its making. Sometimes it felt like it was crashing against the rocks but then again it's just a bunch of songs!

I hope you like them. I hope they tell your story and come to mean as much to you as they do to me.
