ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Moshe Raphael Halfon is a Reiki healer, rabbi, and world musician who has performed in North America, Brazil, Italy and Israel. He is currently a congregational leader and chaplain who also maintains a small healing practice. A gifted guitarist, drummer and singer, he is a seeker who has learned with masters of spirit, rhythm and song.

This popular 2001 album was the fruit of a collaboration between Reb Moshe and former congregant Ariella Shira Lewis, a women's ceremonialist, healer and cancer survivor with whom he has worked since 1994. When she experienced profound healing through songs like these, she began sharing them with others. While not a musician, she was guided to collaborate with Moshe to bring this gift to a wider community. His soothing voice is thus empowered by her vision. They plan five more volumes of "light" on similar themes.

Each piece was chosen and ordered based on its intent, mood and vibration - from gentle chants to rhythmic tunes, ancient mystical formulas to compositions in Hebrew and English by popular songwriters. You feel surrounded and embraced by lush vocals, cello, didjeridoo, guitar and percussion by Moshe and friends, many arranged by film composer William Ashford. The insert offers inspirational notes and even visualizations: for a mantra effect, repeat a track ("Shalom" or "Light is Shining") while sitting or lying down. Or play the songs in order as a journey through stages of healing:
-centering and focusing on wholeness;
-invoking both earthly and angelic helpers;
-affirming healing in body, heart, mind and spirit;
-working with light, water, sound, and essence;
-returning to hope, tranquility and repose

Religious leaders of all faiths, hypnotists, complementary medicine practitioners, and people with health, spiritual or emotional challenges have successfully used this CD to focus or relax before, during, or after surgery; in worship; or for quiet contemplation. Spiritual healing is not the same as curing, so please seek medical expertise when needed. This music is intended to inspire ("in-spirit") those seeking wellness and faith. Yet it's great for easy listening at home, while driving or flying, or before bedtime for yourself or for children (check out "Angels of Blessing" to Brahm's lullaby!).

In the words of Ariella Shira's closing invocation:
"May the healing vibrations and energies of these songs and chants enfold you like a Tallit, a robe of light, as they cradle, sustain and transform you, and fill you to overflowing. Allow the Divine healing light and love carried by the sounds to fill your spirit, your mind, your heart and every cell of your body, balancing, harmonizing and aligning them with your God-self. May your journey of healing be a transition to higher levels of wholeness, completeness and peace. Shalom...."

"Reb Moshe has a shaman's touch in leading groups through transformation, celebrations to insight and ecstasy, and musical events to exuberance and delight."
-Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi
