Chew Your Heart

by Moufette

Couplecore pioneers surf the breakpoint of breakup to deliver constant emotional alchemy. Sweeping layers of melodic production build the magical realism set for Ariel's sensuality drenched vocals and the pleasure pain dialog between the passionate duo.

I don't know much about "couplecore" - an electo folk boy-girl pop genre, but I'm not surprised that Moufette's Steve Durand and Ariel Engle are its reigning King and Queen. The Montreal duo make music that stays with you and makes you want to seek out more.
I can remember the first time I heard their song "Chew Your Heart" the sultry vocals of Steve mixed with Ariel's dreamy reminders all over a busy soundscape of rhythms, keyboards, and guitars. The song is a haunting love story that ebbs and flows with admissions and fears. Takes me back to that first rush when I head Portishead, and realized that electronic music can be dark and romantic.

Most sensitive record I ever heard.
I'd like to start by saying thank you to the two artists that made this album : Steve Durand and Ariel Engle. This album is my favorite ever. All the songs are so sensitive, so personal. Looks like they are singing directly to you. This is a must buy for everyone. 5 Stars for one of the greatest record of the 21st century.
