Album Notes
When the devil comes knocking, will the angels lie for you?
The Alley Band (Scott Mount-bass, Franklin Barbieri-guitar, the lovely Annmarie-drums, Cameron Stahl-sax) is a live group dedicated to playing the music of singer/songwriter Mr. Chris. The first Mr. Chris and Alley release came in 2010 with the double album "Mourning in the Garden/ And Down Went the Sun" which was written, produced, and performed by Mr. Chris. "Climb into the Strange" followed in 2014 and currently Mr. Chris is producing the next album "Wither Down". Alley Band shows are updated periodically on the CD Baby website. Reach out -

"Portrait of a Muse" is the first album entirely produced by the songwriter Mr. Chris under the pseudonym The Joint Stock Company. It is an analog recording from the fall of 2001. The blend of acoustic instruments, light percussion, and surrealist lyricism are evident throughout and begin to set the stage for later albums including Mr. Chris' "A Little Unfolkist" (2002), side projects such as the mandolin drenched Laughing Bones' "Ramblings" (2004), the traditional folk blues album "4/4 Blues" (2004) by Peter Spencer w/ Mr. Chris, and the electrified sound of the live band the Lowdown (2005-2009).

Recordings from MOURNING IN THE GARDEN (tracks 1-11) span 2008-2010.
AND DOWN WENT THE SUN (tracks 12-22) was recorded in June of 2010. (Lyrics Below)
All songs written, played, and recorded by Mr. Chris.

And Down Went the Sun
Leave me your dreams, wrapped in a bow of violin strings that you keep silently stowed.
Let me believe the song is in tow, as the chamber plays tears and weeps as the piece is silently stowed.
And listening to children sing only controls the deepening role that the void has silently stowed.
The silence you hear is not that of God, but the pain of your soul listening to know if the silence will go or if the sun will shine music of gold. And down went the sun.

Lovers to Foes
Foes into fools,
Fooled into love.

Fall, winter, spring,
Spring into love,
Summer we fall. And the light is still keeping on. Hoping time will mend all the wrong...we belong...

Lovers as foes,
Frozen by love,
Melted in time.

The secondhand gives,
Time we had said...
Said our goodbyes. And the darkness is tending the flame. Though we say neither one is to blame...we remain.

Lovers and Foes,
Fools till the end,
Falling for love.

And in the end...
End of the day,
In love may we fall...fall into friends.
