Album Notes
Richard Peeples (christened "Mr. Richard" by Orlando, Florida-area moms) was part of the storytelling troupe at the Orlando Public Library, and moms and kids were constantly nagging him to make a CD of his silly tunes. At last, "Might As Well Sing" is here, with ten original songs hand-crafted on Richard's couch and polished for your listening pleasure at Delta Recording in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Richard is joined by former Squirrel Nut Zippers leader and Buddy Guy guitarist James "Jimbo" Mathus, who not only produced the album but also played banjo, accordion and some slippery slide guitar. Multi-instrumentalist Matt McWhirter played piano, organ and drums, and Memphis-based blues babe Miss Olga lends her silky vocals to the proceedings. As Jimbo says, "It's real music played by real people".

The whole family will enjoy "Might As Well Sing", from the pragmatic "What Good Is A Fish?" to the toe-tapping rock of "Sammy Snake" to the whimsical "Airplane Jane". Unsung pets are given their due in "Animal Friends", while a pig's natural slovenly tendencies are addressed in "Pig Pig Pig". And "Underwear", while a pub-friendly sing-along, has been proven to get your toddler out of diapers for good!

The New York Post picked "Might As Well Sing" in a round-up of new children's "platters that matter", and called "Sammy Snake" a "hip ode to a hipless animal". Parenting magazine featured the album as a May 2005 "Parenting Picks" for the 5-8-yr-old set, citing "skewered melodies, groovin' guitar, and zany lyrics", all featured at Mr. Richard's appearance at the 2005 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Kid's Tent. "Might As Well Sing" has also won two 2005 Children's Music Web Awards: Best Recording for Children Ages 5-8 and Best Song ("Underwear") for the same age group.

Very fun music that even entertains my 10 month old infant.
Richard has found a way to include several styles of music into a children's format. The CD is very upbeat and my son loves listening to it, even though he is too young to understand the themes of the songs. I understand them and I love them. I know now that underwear is a must.

Great Buy! Fun to listen to.
It is an awesome CD for kids. My 2 1/2 year old twins just love it. We love to sing along. We live in the boonies and this CD seems to make the drive to civilization much shorter.

My kids LOVE this CD!! They're ages 4, 3, and 2 and can sing all the words to every song. It makes car rides a great experience. I have to say that my husband and I don't mind listening to it either. You can push the repeat button and leave it on all day and everyone is happy!

The PERFECT family CD for fun and real music!
Mr. Richard has come to our rescue with a CD full of music that parents can enjoy as much as the kids. My daughter LOVES 'What Good Is A Fish' and sings to all of the songs. It is a delight to spend time with her just singing and laughing together!

I sometimes play it even when the kids aren't around!
I don't have kids, but keep some entertainment around the house for my niece and nephews. They beg me to put this on when they come to visit! We all sing along "what good is a fish?", "underwear is a must" and more. Then when Sammy Snake comes on WE JUST BOOGIE! My personal favorite though, has to be Airplane Jane. Lou Reed and David Byrne, eat your hearts out!

Amy Goodman

A must have if you have kids!
This CD gets my daughter up and dancing every time we listen; so, if you enjoy watching the uninhibited dancing of your little ones, this cd is a must have. "Underwear" is definitely a favorite song on the album, but then again there isn't a song on the cd that she doesn't love.

I plan to make this my standard gift from now on for parties and holidays! Something truly unique and fun for all the family to enjoy together....

My baby has to sleep to it!
My little 2yr old girl will not go to bed unless this cd is playing start to finish! She is sure to be out by the last song. And that goes for naptime, too. Never fails!

Great for all ages!
Very cute and great for all ages. My 9 month old daughter bounces to it and my 3 year old neice had the songs memorized the first day I gave her the CD! Also makes me and my husband laugh, which is nice!

Fun for 'kids' of all ages!
What fun when a 'gramma' and granddaughter can listen and sing along with the same CD! This one is a great example of traditional folk music - excellent storytelling set to lively tunes. Mr. Richard's description of his dog can bring sweet tears to your eyes, while "What Good is a Fish" and "Underwear" bring a hearty chuckle!

Sarah and Kate

Might As Well Buy This CD!
Our friends are really into the Underwear song. Our car is generally full of children, singing at the top of their lungs. So, if you hear UNDERWEAR, UNDERWEAR . . . sung loudly out of the window of a green Camry, it is probably us! We love you, Mr. Richard. When are you recording, "Driving in my Car?"
