Album Notes
This recording was made in 2001 as part of my doctorate work. My written document is titled "Two Sonatas,Two Instruments - One Performer; A Close Look at Beethoven's Sonatas for Piano and Cello Op.5 no.1 and Op.102 No.2"
(Temple Univeristy, Philadelphia, 2002)
Recording the sonatas playing both instruments has been a dream of mine for many years. The recording process was challenging, intriguing, and very satisfying. I recorded the piano parts first, as there are much less silences in the piano, and then, as the ready piano tracks were played back to me on head phones(one ear) I played the cello along with it. Being in total agreement with the pianist was tremendous asset, still, the fact that I could only listen to each instrument with one ear, made the task formidable. All in all I certainly had the advantage and thrill of "two artists playing as one."
