Album Notes
"I receive several CDs a month for review. A few of the writers get to perform at the showcase. Fewer CDs go to my living room shelf. When we heard Zoe Mulford's CD Traveling Moon, we ordered some to give to our friends and I added one of her songs to my performance repertoire. Her lyrics are intelligent, thought-provoking, and so warm that they demand that you get to know this person better."
-Bob Gramann, Fredericksburg Songwriters' Showcase

"Traveling Moon" is the first fully-produced album from singer-songwriter Zoe Mulford. In 2004, the year of its release, Zoe was nominated for 4 awards from the Washington Area Music Association, including Best New Artist. Originally released on her own Winged Seed Music label, "Traveling Moon" has joined the catalog of Azalea City Recordings.

The album features performances by DC area muscians including Al Williams (jazz flute) and Wyn Walke (dobro) and cellist Diana McFadden of the bands KIVA and Folk Nouveau. Adding to the mix are guitarist Roger Gold of the Elftones and Toby Mulford (the artist's brother) on bass.

Great Recording !!!
I enjoyed her voice. Her songs were funny and easy on the ears. The variety also appealed to me.

Was listening to the radio program Midnight Special - Folks Music with a Sense of Humor, hosted by Rich Warren and heard the track "Life is too short to fold underwear." It's a great song to sing out loud, when one needs to keep priorities straight, and to share with others. Sent the lyrics to friends and had several respond that it hit the spot. Bought extra copies to give as gifts after listening to track samples.

Loved both this and "Roadside Saints" ... thank you Zoe!

There is something about "If I had a cello" that grabs me in the limbic system and won't let go. It's the strongest, most intimately honest piece of songwriting I have heard in years. There are other good songs on this CD, but "Cello" is the one that I can't let go of.

Very tuneful, witty lyrics, great variety
I bought 5 of this CD, as gifts for the people I like best. Very original songs, a great variety of styles, witty and thoughtful lyrics, and she has a lovely fresh voice.

Every track is great!
The magic of Zoe's music is that it is both personal and universal. Her songs span the breadth and depth of human experience--sadness, joy, silliness, loss, self-doubt, discovery, mystery and hope. This is a must-have CD for anyone who values music written, sung, and played from the heart. I never grow tired of listening to her, and when I sing along, I feel beautiful. Thank you, Zoe!

Traveling Moon
I just loved "Life is too short..." The song tends to put life in better perspective and also helps to encourage simplifying the incredibly mundane. Thanks Zoe.

Wonderful different layers
This CD is a part of so many good memories, but the best is that it has so many different layers. Everytime I listen I hear more & my song preferences shuffle.
