ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Dave Munsick’s music captures the spirit of the people both harmonically and humanistically. He is an exemplary songwriter.” Michael Martin Murphey

Wyoming’s been keeping a secret, mostly hidden in the folds of the Big Horn Mountains. The secret lies in the way that the connective power of Dave Munsick’s music ties to the echoes of the land, lore and life of the west.
Dave has a long history of living life to its fullest, working from Mexico to Canada at occupations that have kept him close to the land and its people. His rich life and lyrical melodies allow listeners to be captured into the times and the places of which he sings. He has written scores of songs, themes for plays, and produced 4 cds of his songs, BINGO, BUCKAROO BALL, TOO MANY HORSES, and OLD WOOD. He has also made several history and science educational music videos. In addition to his recording career, he has opened for or performed on fiddle, piano, and guitar for artists including Chris LeDoux, Hank Thompson, Ian Tyson, Darrell McCall and Johnny Bush.

Dave gives song writing workshops, arranges music for his band, the Powder River Boys, has had his music played on television, U.S. and European radio stations, and been reviewed in Western Horseman, Rope Burns, and Cowboy magazines.

OLD WOOD showcases Dave's writing, singing, playing, and production talents. It highlights songs with subject matter and arrangements that run from a haunting mountain style melody depicting an old cowman's discovery of place, to country shuffles and tightly arranged, deep seated ballads. This cd is sure to become an old friend.

The songs stay in your head long after you're finished listening!
We constantly listen to Old Wood - its a keeper! Its the music of choice when we entertain guests at the ranch. Its the background music during dinner that ALWAYS gets turned up. Dave is true of voice and his writing is deep, thoughtful and memorable. The layering of instruments is incredible. Canter out and get this music!

I loved it!
Old Wood is a wonderful CD. Dave has mixed history and cowboy tunes into something wonderful. I loved the entire CD but his tunes about the Lewis & Clark expedition were creative and sweet and enjoyable! They make you want to shuck your life and cross the rockies to "Where the Sun Goes" as Dave put it. His music is filled with our history and his own history. Dave isn't afraid to reveal himself to his listeners. I love this kind of courage in an artist. I would recomend "Old Wood" to anyone who.. well.. wants to see... "where the sun goes".
