ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A hip Italian duo - one that mixes torchy vocals with mellow downtempo beats - but all at a level that's got a bit more depth and soul than most of their contemporaries! The lovely Marinella Mastrosimone handles vocals here - and she's got a breathy, raspy style that echoes jazz work of the 30s and 40s, but also manages to have a more contemporary, dark-sounding undercurrent. Instrumentation is from Matteo Curcio - who uses a fair bit of programming, but with acoustic elements at the core - in a way that further adds to the warmth of the session. There's a sound here that almost reminds us of the first sorts of experiments in this mode that came from England and Germany over a decade ago.

“A gloriously entwining tapestry of exquisitely eloping exotica elegance - a smoking jacket of nocturnal amour enticing treats.”
LOSINGTODAY

“Seductive jazz noir vocals from Marinella and nu-jazzish beats from Matteo make this a versatile album covering genres like downtempo/triphop/lounge and deep house.”
UNDOMONDO

“...their debut full length (out now) is a sublime studded sleekly starry eyed jazz / downtempo / lounge/ library gem that sumptuously blends elements of Stereolab, Shortwave Set and John Barry with the Broadcast and Debussy not lost on us...”

Kasey A Kiesel

Music is catchable again and again
I like this even when shes unhappy her voice is comfortably still soothing and beautiful to listen to. I like the different field and shape in her own style in her music that blends so well in her own orginality.
