ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"If you are a fan of the deepest down home blues from the scratchiest old recordings you can find then you will love Muskrat Sally. A four piece acoustic roots act hailing from the fertile Eastern Shore of Maryland, they fire up a mix of delta and early Chicago blues, rockabilly, ragtime, and old time country. Muskrat Sally captures the intensity and spirit of the original artists while remaining fresh and exciting. Their live shows are riveting with extended rhythmic jams and constant improvisation."

Singer and guitarist, Matthew Feuer, honed his skills with roots rock band, .32-20, in New York City . His intense vocals and haunting slide guitar evoke the spirits of Elmore James, Muddy Waters, and Robert Johnson. He has shared the stage with such luminaries as James Cotton, Johnnie Johnson, The Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Eric Burden. He has won multiple national songwriting awards for his original compositions.

Singer and Bassist, Todd Smith played in the Indiana music scene with Mere Mortals, Jennie DeVoe, Jason Wilbur, Tim Grimm, and Carrie Newcomer. He has shared the stage with Little Feat, Yes, Nils Lofgren, Shawn Mullins, Joe Cocker, John Hiatt, Bonnie Raitt, and many others.

Harmonica player Brian Vedtiz began playing in the 1970's after witnessing Mark Wenner making "that amazing sound" with The Nighthawks band at a club in southern Maryland . He has played with countless bands in the Delmarva region since then and is now a master of "that amazing sound" himself.

Dean Wendland has been studying the instrument of drums and percussion for over 25 years with a focus on American jazz and blues. He studied with several drum greats including, Joe Morello and Richie Hayward of Little Feat. He has provided the backbone for many regional bands and is currently bringing an intense stripped down approach to his work with Muskrat Sally.
