Album Notes
Recorded live in Dallas Texas, The New Collection is a hip a cappella vocal jazz ensemble, whose raison d’etre is to perform arrangements of music from the popular and jazz culture. This new "first release" CD features the group in glorious harmonies, lyric solos by group members as well as improvised solos, vocal percussion and so much more!

The legendary vocal jazz director and arranger, Paris Rutherford, started this new a cappella group with singers based throughout the Dallas, Denton &/Fort Worth metroplex. The original vocal jazz group " The Collection" ( featured on track 8) was partly his inspiration for THE NEW COLLECTION. Retiring from the University of North Texas as Professor Emeritus and former director of Vocal Jazz and with over 100 jazz arrangements in publication we have picked a few for this exciting CD!

A New Delight
This vocal group swings with a charming unity and solid soloists. This doesn't seem at all like a retirement for director and arranger Paris Rutherford. I'm looking forward to their next CD in what I hope will be the near future.
