ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Under the direction of Dennis Morton, string teacher at N.A., the N.A. Fiddlers started their folk journey in 2002. Over the past 15 years they have played over 120 folk tunes and many various styles. Each year Mark Tamsula, Appalachian Fiddler, brings his experience and folk knowledge to the fiddle workshop. Together we all share our love of folk music around the Pittsburgh area.
N.A. Fiddlers 2017 showcases the diverse, energetic, committed, and talented students in the North Allegheny School District in grades 6-12. The students participate in a one week workshop during the summer to learn traditional fiddle music including Appalachian, Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass, Scandinavian, Finnish, old-timey, and more. The students have also had an opportunity to work with local folk musicians including Mark Tamsula (Appalachian), Melinda Crawford (Scottish), Katie Grennan (Irish), Dr. Carl Rahkonen (Scandinavian and Finnish), and Ray Bruckman (Bluegrass).
