Blues Kitchen

by Nancy Wenstrom

Sultry but edgy female vocals, Nancy also plays great lead rock/blues guitar, accompanied by B-3 organ, pumping rhythm section and Chicago horns. Her brand new original groove tunes are sprinkled in with classic tunes from the old school.

Album Notes
North meets south in this rockin blues CD. The funky lead guitar styling of Nancy Wenstrom, a veteren player, is truly original, well composed and full of spirit both in both her own compositions as well as the tunes she covers. Her sultry but lively vocals riding on top of this great sound add a touch of sweetness to this fun music and will melt even the hardest of hearts. The hard driving rhythm section consisting of her long time bassist and friend, Jan Martinell, and newly discovered groove master, Kendrick Freeman, on drums are a solid and funky platform. Flavored with the piano styling and traditional Hammond B-3 organ sounds of Don Turney (also engineer on the project), you get the feel of days when music was hot, people were cool and times were simpler. Add a taste of spicy Memphis style horns from trumpeter/arranger Brad Catania from Chicago, and Guido Fazio, tenor sax extraordinaire, and you have a hot serving of soulful and satisfying sounds. Your appetite will be wetted for more and you won't be disappointed or go away hungry. If it's upbeat music you're looking for to escape the rigors of your stressful day, 'dis is da place...the Blues Kitchen!
