Album Notes
Naomi was born and raised in New York City. She learned to play the guitar and sing as a teenager and was deeply influenced by the folk music movement of the sixties and the singer/songwriters of the seventies. She went on to become a psychotherapist and practiced psychotherapy for twenty years. During that time she began practicing yoga and became enchanted with the transformative power of kirtan, call and response singing. Through chanting in yoga classes Naomi rediscovered her voice. Yoga became increasingly important to her and she eventually made the gradual transition from therapist to yoga teacher. After years of bringing the harmonium and singing to her students, she has compiled her interpretations of these beloved traditional chants into Prabhujee.
Jazz musician Mark Lopeman accompanies Naomi on flute, alto flute and bansuri flute. His jazz background peeks through in his amazing flute solos on Hanuman Bolo and Jaia Radha. Todd Isler brings his expertise in Indian percussion to the album, playing hadgini, udubu, lap drum and frame drum. Mark and Todd join Aurora Pedraza, Gabriele Shafer, Franny Silverman and Abby Weiss, who are also Naomi's students, in kirtan response on "Nama Shivaya Om" and "Yamuna Tira Bihari".
Naomi lives in Brooklyn with her husband and fifteen-year-old son.

Naomi Jaffe's CD Prabhujee
Naomi Jaffee's CD Prabhujee is a joy to listen to. Her voice is clear, light and warm all at once. Each song has a unique quality and life to it while there is a common thread of uplifting soulfulness that runs through the whole CD. I listen to it on my own and play it in my Yoga classes always to positive feedback. This Cd is wonderfully authentic.

Prabhujee by Naomi Jaffe
Jaffes's album Prabhujee is a wonderful accompaniment to a home yoga practice or a languorous Sunday morning coffee. The call and response tracks induce a meditative mood sending your mind to another place. Jaffes's voice is both gentle and direct. A must for a collector of ambient music.
