Album Notes
The name Summer Isn’t Real came out of a conversation about the weather. About how there’s something to the summer climate—both the heat and the break from regular life—that makes things feel unreal. This EP is about staying young and growing up, about obsession and connection, about feeling too much and feeling too little. It’s about the liminal spaces in life and love, the in-betweens that we don’t always have the right words for.

I’ve been making electronic music since I discovered GarageBand, writing songs for ten years, and singing since I was born. I hope you enjoy the results.

All songs written, arranged and performed by Natanya Norry.
Coproduced by Natanya Norry and Michael Levine.
Recorded and mixed by Michael Levine.
Mastered by Michael Levine using Aria Mastering.
Guitar on Good Go and Fever Dream, Michael Levine.
Copyright Natanya Norry 2019.

I write the words, sing the songs, and make the tracks, but this EP wasn’t a one-person endeavor.
Thanks to Michael Levine for the engineering, the mixing, the guitar-playing, and the learning opportunities I got working alongside you on these songs. It’s been a truly great collaboration.
Thanks to Anita Aysola for the space and guidance you provided in your songwriting class, where I got bitten by the inspiration bug and wrote/produced This Season in one day. And for landing me my first gig. That was pretty awesome.
Thanks to Matthew Flores for the awesome music video. Even though those 15 takes almost made me hate my own music from sheer overexposure, it was an amazing experience.
Huge thanks to Beverly Blouin for your advice on all these songs, and the many other things I’ve learned taking voice lessons with you. I am not exaggerating when I say this EP would not be what it is had I not learned from you.
Every singer’s gotta thank their family... but truly, thank you all so much for the support—emotional and financial—you’ve given me not just during the process of making this release, but in all my other endeavors (at least, all the smart ones).
Thanks to the friends who followed me along the way, who sent fire emojis over Instagram DMs and gave me high-fives and hugs IRL when word got around about my music. Y’all continue to be the absolute best.
Special shoutouts to: Roën, who indirectly inspired the creation of this EP in the first place (and continues to inspire me in many other ways); Jack, who keeps me grounded and lifts me up (which he can do because he’s so tall) ; Venus and the Periwinkles, Brother Moon, MC Miles, ABB, and all the Paideia acts that have yet to debut (we’re gonna make a legacy to last).
And thanks to the people streaming and downloading my music, the people stumbling upon my YouTube channel for the first time, the person holding this CD right now. You took the time to listen to somebody new, and that’s awesome.

Let’s make every hour golden.
