Album Notes
Near Life is a progressive death metal band hailing from Sonoma County, California. Of Love and Illusions is our debut independant release. It contains Eight songs, each no shorter than 6 minutes in length, and the songs never stay in the same place, you'll not find a standard verse/chorus A/B structure here. Music is our lives, and we hope that we can give back to, and influence people, just as we have been. Of Love and Illusions is a concept album focusing on loss, regret, and moral/immoral tendencies. We also promise that everytime you hear the cd, you'll walk away with the thought, "I just heard 'something new'." Even if you don't think you did, trust us, you did. And that's not arrogance speaking. Truthfully, we are three humble dudes hailing from the ole wine county of California, but just go ahead and listen carefully to the track "Motionless Vigil". It's a very special number. Enough with the tom-foolery, though. We have spent many moons on this album, and take pride in our instruments. And not the ones we play on stage, mind you. This caption might seem easy going, and that reflects our personalities, but let the music speak for itself. If you like metal, particularly the Swedish kind, you'll not be dissapointed. Go ahead, taste the 2:00 samples, you'll ask Cdbaby to send you a copy. That, or the kibbles and bits, which are located on aisle 12, next to the do-it-yourself-at home rectal... Ooops, I've said too much. Enjoy, and...

Excellent work! These know what their doing. This cd hasn't left my payer in three weeks, and sits well next to Opeth and Green Carnation. My advice, pick this one up!!!

Progressive/Death Metal fans will love it!
I first saw Near Life live and they captured my attention from the start. These guys are musically and artistically gifted to say the least! The songs are complex and well thought out, and if you tune your ears to each instrument individually you will agree that they are all incredibly played. I bought the CD after seeing them a second time live and I was very impressed at the quality of the tracks and how well everything was put together. ROCK ON GUYS!
