Album Notes
Performing solo instrumental and/ or vocals has its roots in ancient Persian/Iranian culture of music and story telling. There still are highly valued masters of the tradition in the country. Doing solo oud and vocals in a semi-classical style for Persian music is not that common though.
Here in Through, I have tried to take the tradition into a rather modern frame of mixing abstract thinking and basic elements of Classical Persian music, along with poetry. The whole concept is to use the elements in a way that can expressively get the message out; the message being the identity-quest.

The music is semi-composed and semi-improvised; having the themes in mind while performing, still feeling free to either add new melodies/rhythms or variations of them.

The poetry covers poets as old as Roudaki (the very famous poet of the 10th century, Iran) to the very contemporary Forough Farrokhzad, Ahmad Shamlou and Houshang Ebtehaj.
There's also one piece "Possessed" with a combination of Persian poetry with Kurdish poetry, as it's sort of a dialogue between the archetypes of the lover and the wise inside the woman's mind.
