ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Each of our musical journeys began in childhood - we sang in church, at camp, in the car with family on road trips, in school. In our teenage years, we sang along with all the rock ballads on the radio, and we took up the instruments we still play today. Ultimately, we were each captivated by the high lonesome sounds of bluegrass, and that is what brought our musical paths and our lives together. The songs on this recording reflect the roots to which we owe both our marriage and our performing partnership: the bluegrass of Brown County, and, older still, the songs from Ireland that contributed so mightily to the genesis of that uniquely American art form. Thanks for walking along with us for a while. We're so happy to share our journey with you.

I would like to express my thanks for the invaluable influence and camaraderie of all of my bandmates and fellow pickers of bluegrass, contra dance and Irish session music. I also give special thanks to Waycross, Arts for Learning, my family, and especially my wife Lisa for her incredible optimism, drive, encouragement, support and love. My playing on this recording is dedicated to the memory of my sister Anne Katherine Schroeder.
~ David Schroeder

Enormous thanks go out to our family, our friends, and our music community in Indianapolis and beyond. I can't possibly express the depth of my gratitude for your love, support, and mentorship. To David, my wonderful husband - we did it! I'm so proud of how we worked together to make it happen, and I love you so much. I dedicate this music to the memory of Susan Griffin, my beautiful Mama. I wish she were here to celebrate this milestone with us.
