ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Transcending genre or simple categorization, The Thistle is a complex, mind-bending concept album chronicling the journey through the growing pains of rural school life. Originally recorded by Newton Girls Choir on a 4-track tape recorder in a 1999 school gym and left fallow for nearly 20 years, the project was exhumed in 2017 from the only remaining cassette. 2018 saw a year-long endeavour of massive and intricate digital rearrangement, combing through the source audio to create new layers and sonic elements. The Thistle will delight you, it will make you shake your head, and will ultimately inspire you to do something unique instead of just playing along with the other kids.
