ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Niagara Moon is Thomas Erwin, plus anybody else who collaborates with him - including his girlfriend Huimin and his dog Rudi.

Hailing from a quaint college town in Western Massachusetts, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter & keyboardist started Niagara Moon in 2015. His homespun yet lushly produced indie pop songs combine the intricate melodies of Sgt. Peppers and Pet Sounds with the 21st century style of artists like Mac DeMarco, Belle & Sebastian and Of Montreal. Catchy melodies, impressionistic lyrics and mellow rhythms abound.

A musical omnivore from a young age, Thomas started out playing classical piano in grade school. From there, he moved onto jazz, improv, and even electronica before finally settling on the craft of pop songwriting.

He recorded the first Niagara Moon album "Eating Peaches" almost entirely by himself, armed with only keyboards, synths, samples, and a bass. Collaborations with friends helped round out the sound with a few additional instruments. Released in January 2017, the 11 track album showcases a smorgasbord of retro and modern pop influences, lush arrangements, and a unique whimsicality.

Before Niagara Moon, there was Otadehan - Thomas's previous band based in Kyoto, Japan. Heavily influenced by 70's Japanese pop/rock, they wrote songs in both Japanese and English.

Lastly, Thomas also hosts the podcast Talkin About The Passion, which features interviews with various indie musicians and showcases their music.
