Album Notes
"'s almost a rarity these days to hear a new jazz ensemble differentiate itself from the pack. The quintet's forthright mission of execution, substantiated by unwavering commitment, delivers the winning edge."

- Glenn Astarita, All About Jazz, National Downbeat writer

The Nia Quintet is an in-demand quintet from Chicago featuring some of Chicago's finest musicians. They have performed at all of Chicago's finest Jazz clubs including the Jazz Showcase, The Green Mill, Andy's Jazz Club, Hot House and many more. They play original music written and arranged by trumpeter/composer Scott Anderson, a semi-finalist in the 2012 International Songwriters Competition. Their first CD "End of Time" charted in the top 50 in the country for radio play and at number 15 on the College Music Journal Charts. "End of Time" received rave reviews from all the major trades including JazzTimes and Cadence magazine. Their second CD "Earth Sign" is being released this year. It features seven more originals that will capture and hold the interest of any savvy jazz fan.

A native of North Carolina, Scott moved to Chicago in 1999 after attending The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and Indiana University School of Music, and has been very active on the music scene working with countless groups in and around Chicago including the Model Citizens Big Band and Aaron McEvers’ M-13.

In 2001, Scott founded Nia Quintet to showcase his songwriting and arranging, collaborating with some of the best musicians that Chicago has to offer. His first album, End of Time, on BluJazz Productions features 10 original compositions from a library of over 100 songs. His second album, to be released in 2013, features 7 more compositions.
