Album Notes
Nich Mueller has been developing original music and a devoted following since his Downbeat Award winning debut album in 2011. Nich’s smooth vocal tone has been said to resemble Chet Baker, yet his pianistic abilities put him in the same category as piano/vocal bandleaders including Harry Connick Jr. and Diana Krall. Nich and his band perform re-invented versions of classic jazz standards and progressive originals featuring adventurous lyrical content paired with unique harmonic and rhythmic play.

Culture in Flames is the personalized musical statement of Nich and his band on the various thrills and issues we face living in the 21st century. Themes include digital age confusion, the experience of living in corporate controlled America, travel and self-discovery, the evolution of religion and spirituality, and personal trifles resulting from an increasingly distracting culture. Featuring a virtuosic band to back this exciting new piano/vocal bandleader on the New York scene; sounds bounce back and forth from straight-ahead cutting jazz to odd-meters, original harmonies, and spots of touching ballad.

What people have been saying about Culture in Flames:

"It's profound to see an artist making strong statements about the big questions. It takes a deft hand to even bring them up, much less sing coherently about it." – Anonymous

"I’m in awe of ‘Culture in Flames,’ which says something, since about fifteen records come across my desk every day. It’s a versed, intensely deep jaunt through jazz that will surely be accessible for Mueller’s own peers. It doesn’t make the genre feel antiquated or ‘retro,’ but rather more contemporary than most music. It feels ahead of itself." – Independent Spotlight

"This music is a joke... It's horrible. I make better music. People love music. I make the best music." – Donald Trump
