Album Notes
Nick Depuy and Barbie Tatum are an acoustic folk soul duo based in the North East (Connecticut and New Jersey, respectively) - who have perfected a harmonious songwriting relationship that yields original music you’ll feel you already know… and love. Both accomplished singer-songwriters in their own right, Nick and Barbie work together to create a uniquely throwback 60s/70s blend that captures the hearts of every audience they entertain. Think James Taylor, Carly Simon, Fleetwood Mac...the greats!

Their story is as unique as the blend they share. In fact, Nick and Barbie met just 3 years ago only to prep a song for Barbie’s sister - who was getting married and wanted Barbie to perform the song “Forever Like That” by Ben Rector during the wedding ceremony. Barbie was in desperate need of a guitarist-singer to accompany her. Luckily, Nick’s Dad and Barbie’s Mom were close friends since childhood, with family ties that go back about 7 generations in Pennsylvania. Barbie’s Mom encouraged Barbie to reach out to see if Nick might be available to play. Nick agreed, and it was instant musical chemistry. They were able to nail the song down in just one day, effortlessly. They performed at the wedding ceremony to a crowd of family and friends. Afterward, the wedding guests couldn’t stop remarking about how the two voices blended so well, and continued to ask when the next performance might be.

Since then it’s been a thing! They have been writing and recording original songs; while also revamping cover songs that feature their dynamic harmony and collaborative abilities. Barbie supported Nick’s 2017 “Don’t Be Sorry” album release with backing vocals and harmony to augment his already dynamite series of songs. “Don’t Be Sorry” featured the first song the two co-wrote, entitled “For Generations.” The song is a tribute to the story of their families long shared ties. Barbie joined Nick’s band “The Big Fly” in early 2018; and the two went on to release a series of singles with a joint social media effort that is sure to bring a smile to your face. (Don’t miss following their fun loving focus on Facebook and Instagram.)

In support of their collaboration, you may find them performing together regularly as a duo and within the larger collective of The Big Fly. They’ve proven to suit most any venue with their style, from beach bars to country cafes to city clubs as they’ve developed followings at Baldanza Market Cafe in Connecticut and at the historic night club, Arlene’s Grocery in NYC.
