Album Notes
Nick Piunti has followed his run with Detroit's The Respectables with the new album "13 in My Head". These are power pop influenced, guitar driven songs recorded with an amazing cast of like minded musicians. Produced and recorded by Geoff Michael at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor, "13 in My Head" features Donny Brown (The Verve Pipe) on drums, backing vocals, and additional production, Ryan Allen (Destroy This Place, Friendly Foes, Thunderbirds Are Now) on guitar, vocals, as well as co-writing several tracks, with Andy Reed (An American Underdog), Todd Holmes (Chris Richards and The Subtractions) and Chris DuRoss on bass. As the title of the album suggests, this is the kind of music that takes you back to that first crush kind of feeling that only three minute crashing pop songs can provide. Hooks, harmonies, catchy riffs, can't get it out of your head kind of music. What a concept.

"13 in My Head" It belongs in yours!
I've known Nick Piunti since he was, believe it or not, 13 in his whole body. This, his first collection of tunes since leaving The Respectables, is his first serious venture into the uncharted territory of indie pop. And it exceeds all expectations. No one writes a hook like Nick Piunti and teaming up with other Michigan indie pop luminaries (Ryan Allen, Donny Brown and Andy Reed in particular) was the key ingredient that transformed Nick's finely crafted rock songs into the multilayered harmony laden pop gems presented here.

“13 in My Head” will live in your head just like it’s lived in mine for months now. My only criticism is that, at just 32 minutes, it ends too quickly. To solve this, I just let it repeat over and over and over and....

Will lift your spirits lie a good summer rock record should.
Nick Piunti's latest solo album, 13 In My Head, contains 10 guitar-pop elixirs mixed especially to quench your thirst for good music and lift your spirits like a good summer rock record should. Its colorful timbres and varied textures combine with bright chord changes, sunny melodies and harmony vocals that celebrate and reinvent the influences of Matthew Sweet, Cheap Trick, The Gin Blossoms, The Beatles, The Foo Fighters and Butch Walker. Lyrically, Nick expertly sprinkles in one of his favorite ingredients, the theme of longing, without ever brooding or dwelling, while his main ingredient remains a sense of examination and wonder.

Favorite Tracks: 13 In My Head, On the Way Out and Reasons.

Favorite line: "You tried wearing your heart on your sleeve, but it wouldn't stop bleeding."

Nick Piunti has been writing songs and recording for decades. His earliest recordings, as a teenager with the band, Dwarf, have been recently re-issued on vinyl by New York’s Sing-Sing Records. His solo and band work with The Respectables has received critical acclaim and he's even landed music spots in movies and television.
