ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Nick Tomalin is a pianist and composer who has been active on the London jazz scene for over twenty years. This is his first album as leader and features eight of his original compositions. The music is hard swinging contemporary jazz performed with energy and commitment by some of the best musicians on the London jazz scene, including in demand flautist Gareth Lockrane. The word 'Upcycling' refers to the practice of taking something old and injecting new life into it. In the same way this music draws on the classic sounds of 50' and 60's jazz but gives it a fresh twist and new direction.
