Album Notes
Edmond Paul Nicodemi is a trained classical and jazz guitarist/songwriter who has re-discovered the love of his first instrument, the piano. Tranquility is his third piano CD. This third CD incorporates primarily solo piano with several vocal pieces sung by Carol Nicodemi, which reinforce the theme of the album. It is recorded on a 7-foot Conservatory Grand Piano and documents his life in sound pieces, touching on the ambient as well as the jazz style.

From MainlyPiano
"Tranquility" is the third piano CD released by Edmond Paul Nicodemi. Not entirely a solo piano album, Edmond’s wife, Carol, adds vocals to three tracks. Carol also composed two of the fourteen pieces and Edmond composed the others. Although "Tranquility" is the title and theme of the album, not all of the music is blissful, giving a nice emotional balance. Nicodemi’s music is melodic and graceful, painting colorful expressions of experiences everyone can relate to. The music is not flashy, but Nicodemi’s playing is beautiful and the emotions ring true.

"Tranquility" begins with “Peace of Twilight,” a gently evocative confection that makes me think of the gorgeous pastel colors of the ocean at sunset. Very soothing and calming. “Tranquility” is played mostly in the upper ranges of the piano, as delicate and wistful as a spring breeze. “Seaport Idyll” is a lovely duet for piano and voice. Carol Nicodemi’s wordless vocals give the piece a warm and dreamy feeling. “A Gentleman Always Tips His Hat” is a graceful, melancholy reverie, and I’d love to know where the title comes from - a favorite. I love “Out In The Cold.” Its simple melody and accompaniment express heartfelt emotion that touches me deeply and makes my fingers itch each time I hear it. My other favorite (three in a row!) is “The Morph,” a passionate, dramatic piece that is darker and more intense than the others yet fits in well with the rest of the music. “For Carol On Her Birthday” is a love song, pure, simple, and from the heart. “Flowers and the Rain” is light and warm, gracefully expressing the beauty of the simple things in life whether or not we take the time to notice them. “The Other Side of the Rainbow” spins a daydream set to music. Gently flowing, it casts a magical spell. Tranquility closes with “Butterfly,” a vocal and piano duet that celebrates the delicate beauty of these springtime creatures, penned and sung by Carol Nicodemi.

"Tranquility" is a wonderful album to unwind and relax with, either as a gentle background or listening with full attention. Recommended!
