Album Notes
"The Wrong Blues" - the new studio album from Nicola Costa - is an all original and instrumental guitar record, featuring 9 tracks of amazing, dynamic, blues-based and jazz/rock guitar tunes. Highly recommended to fans of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Michael Landau, Eric Johnson, Scott Henderson, Greg Koch, etc.

Review by JP Holesworth of Stratoblogster:
We first profiled Rome based guitarist Nicola Costa in 2006 and went on to review his "Electric Roots" album in '07. Those were the MySpace days when it was much easier to discover musicians because of the home page music players and Top Friends displays. Remember that? Nicola was one of our first Strat-O-Brother artists.

Costa's newest release is "The Wrong Blues" and I'm honored with an opportunity to hear and review it. The nine all instrumental tracks are a lush and Strat-toneful journey of true craft & finesse. Fans of players such as Michael Landau, Scott Henderson, Robben Ford, Johnny A. & Shane Theriot will especially appreciate Nicola's approach and monster chops. And of course Jeff Beck, a paternal influence of all these guys.

In spite of its vocal-free, strictly power trio guitar focus, The Wrong Blues is as well conceived for broad listening as for The Baked Potato crowd with some of the aforementioned guitarists. "I love to write music - not only food for guitar geeks." says Nicola.

But you can win some bar bets with guitar geek pals playing "guess this guitarist." The Wrong Blues could be a good investment. It's gonna be in my heavy listening rotation for a long time!

Brief Biography
Musician and composer, Nicola Costa started playing guitar at the age of 10. In his early teens Nicola became interested in Rock, Blues and Electric Jazz music. He grew up with the music of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin and Weather Report. At the age of 23 he started to do session works. Over the past 15 years he has recorded and toured with a variety of italian and international artists, including the legendary film music composer and director Ennio Morricone.

In 2007, Nicola released his first solo album "Electric Roots". The CD was well received by critics in Italy, Spain and in the US. Highlights included live performance at the most important European Blues Festivals. Here's a quote from a review by Joe Romagnola of Grooveyard Records: "Nicola Costa is an outstanding, world-class player who stands tall with the best of them. The bluesy-fusion direction, hard vibes and grooves with liquid-organic tones are authentic and pure. The heavy Michael Landau inspiration on "Little Boy Blues" shines deep. Costa & his people did a excellent job on the rather superb "Electric Roots" disc". In 2009 “Electric Roots” has been nominated for a JPF Music Award in the “Best Instrumental Rock Album” category.

Nicola has recently shared the stage with a variety of popular musicians such as Marco Mendoza, Kirk Fletcher, Spy Austin, Leburn Maddox and the Rolling Stones Project, featuring Tim Ries, Darryl Jones and Bernard Fowler, extraordinary musicians and members of the Rolling Stones.

He also was involved in a new musical project called “The Loner 2 - A Tribute to Jeff Beck “ an international album released in November 2014 on ESC Records, featuring great musicians such as Scott Henderson, Michael Thompson, Jim Campilongo, Jeff Richman and more.
