Album Notes

Night is Alive’s First Christmas features arrangements of your favorite holiday music by esteemed jazz pianist Rick Germanson. Produced by Kathy Salem, Managing Director of Night is Alive Productions, this collection of heartwarming Christmas classics is brought to life by Willie Jones III and Night is Alive All-Stars, including Rick Germanson arrangements and piano, Keith Loftis tenor sax, Lonnie Plaxico, bass and esteemed vocalist Christie Dushiell

A highly in-demand pianist on the New York City Jazz scene for well over a decade, Rick Germanson has toured and performed throughout the world. In addition to his recordings as a bandleader, Germanson has also been documented on over forty recordings as a sideman with many of the top musicians in jazz today. He is currently on faculty at The Jackie McLean Institute at The Hartt School of Music at The University of Hartford.

A Night is Alive artist, Willie Jones III has grown to become one of New York City’s most prominent jazz musicians today. Jones was recently hailed as a “top jazz drummer” by The New York Times and has been recognized as “a jazz drummer to reckon with” in the San Diego Union-Tribune. Whether functioning as a savvy bandleader or a high-profile sideman, Jones applies to every context an abiding musicality and a tonal personality that, as Wynton Marsalis puts it, is “ever tasteful.”

Not to be forgotten, the All-Stars themselves are highly respected bandleaders and esteemed artists who stand on equal footing with Germanson and Jones. “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and add Night is Alive’s First Christmas to your playlist this holiday season.

Representing the most memorable performances in jazz, Night is Alive’s mission is to bring today’s best musicians to venues and fans everywhere.
