Album Notes
Composer, concertaccordionist, pianist and music teacher Nihad Hrustanbegovic (1973) began accordion lessons at the age of 9 in Bosnia Herzegovina. In 1988, 1990 and 1991 Hrustanbegovic become the winner of classical music competitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the former Yugoslavia (as a soloist and ensemble) and in 1995 continued his musical education in the Netherlands. As a student Hrustanbegovic followed the Erasmus project for new accordion music-performance, an intensive program for accordion students from across Europe in the field of original accordion music in Graz, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Helsinki, Berlin and Essen and masterclasses by Friedrich Lips James Crabb, Margit Kern and Matti Rantanen. Hrustanbegovic studied from 1995 t / m in 2002 at the Music academy & Messiean academy and had lessons of Miny Dekkers and Gerie Daanen and graduated as Bachelor in 2000 and Master of Music with cum laude in 2002.

As a composer, wrote Hrustanbegovic several music works including Wereldpromenade (Worldpromenade – Stork suite) for the Heineken Extra Cold TV Commercial (2007), Balkan Sorrow for the internationally acclaimed Swiss short film “Zimmer 606” by Peter Volkart (2012), and Tango Village for Dutch documentary film Natural Born Farmers of Jack Janssen (2015). Hrustanbegovic released seven solo albums, “The Best of Concert Accordion” (2007)’Opus 7 The Cross over ‘,’ Live In Concertgebouw Amsterdam ‘,’Sevdah for Petronella’ (solo piano album)’Black Orpheus’, Vivaldi – The Four Seasons Une belle journée. Hrustanbegovic was to see and hear among others in the TV program The World Keeps Turning (2007), Top 2000 A GoGo (2009) and Free Sounds (2010).

In the past 20 years in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe Hrustanbegovic gave more than 1,000 performances: including seven times in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam (3 times a solo concert), in the La Cathedrale Notre Dame Le Puy en Valley (national monument of France, Pilgrimage Route Santiago de Compostela and since 1998 part of UNESCO World Heritage Site), with Grace Jones in Paradiso Amsterdam, with Flairck in Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam, Hall of Knights in the Hague, Vredenburg Utrecht in presence of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix, with Al Di Meola in Metropol and during the opening of Sarajevo Film Festival.
