Album Notes
Beautiful, angelic and sexy are the words used to describe Nishi and her music. An Indian-born and New York raised singer, songwriter & actress whose day job is working full-time as a defense lawyer, there are many things that surprise you about Nishi.

Born in New Delhi and hailing from the south Indian state of Kerala, India, Nishi and her family moved to New York when she was just 5 years old and she has called it home ever since. Nishi defines herself as both Indian and American. She is a child of the 80's & 90's, heavily influenced by pop & rock artists such as Madonna, Guns & Roses & Aerosmith. Her music is a unique blend of her Indian heritage & American upbringing. Her dance songs all contain a unique Indian flair, while her pop ballads are driven by the piano and orchestral strings. Nishi played the violin growing up and is studying the piano, both instruments are used heavily in her music.

A songwriter, Nishi has written over 150 songs and released her 1st EP in 2005/2006 of original music to favorable reviews by international press in Canada, the UK, Japan & the U.S. - she has been heavily profiled by the Indian media and the Indian population identifies strongly with her life & music.

Nishi is also an actress and a lawyer. Nishi sings and acts in plays and musical theater in New York City, acts for film & television and has been performing her original songs throughout NYC in acoustic & full-band shows since 2006. Nishi's most recent feature film, "Sid's Paralysis", directed by award-winning Pakistani filmmaker Babar Ahmed, will be released in late-2011, and her most recent short film, The Process, by Ethan Sacchi, is in post-production. On stage, Nishi just wrapped starring roles as 'Princess Labam' in the Indian fairytale musical 'How Raja's Son Won Princess Labam' with Galli Theater at the National Comedy Center & starred as 'Jamie' in the original play "Killing Time" by Tom Slot which ran at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre in Times Square, New York City.

Nishi manages to do all this while working full-time as a lawyer with a large in-house insurance defense firm in midtown Manhattan practicing personal injury, automobile and insurance defense litigation. Her hours are 9-5 which permit Nishi to pursue music and acting in her free time. When asked on a LIVE on-air interview with Voice of America's Larry London on Border Crossings in Washington D.C. if she would ever leave law to pursue music full-time, Nishi answered resoundingly yes. Apologizing light-heartedly and joking in case her colleagues at work were listening in, Nishi seriously explained that music & stage are her callings and that her true passion as a lawyer is human rights law. Nishi serves on the International Human Rights Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, works pro bono for women’s & children’s charities & is the founding President of her own international human rights non-profit, The Leading Light Foundation.

Multi-talented, multi-faceted, Nishi is a beautiful new Indian voice for a new generation of music lovers.
