ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Balladeer David Lucero Lear originally conceptualized band The Nob Hill Billys influenced by Nob Hill arts district in Albuquerque, NM (actually Placitas where Lucero family has been for generations). Eventually he based the NHBs out of Austin Texas. This rockin’ band plays a mixture of Americana, roots, hillbilly rock, alt. country, cowpunk, dust bowl folk & western swing. David Lucero Lear ( Faith River Worship & The Que ) is the ringmaster performing his personal struggle, spiritual salvation and hoe down jamboree songs with urgency. From prison tune "Thrift Town" to drunken spiritual "Papa's Broken Still" to Bill Monroe's "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", the listener catches on whether it's sinning, redemption or just plain fun. There's even a medley of Elvis' "His Latest Flame" and "The Worlds A Mess" by LA Seminal punk band X (John Doe / Exene ). So come get down and hootenanny with The Nob Hill Billys!

The band members include musicians that bring their roots influence from across America. Just listen to that California born/Oklahoma raised Heidi Weeks sing along, rattle her chicken shaker & bang on the washboard! When The Nob Hill Billys get to doing their business, ain't nobody better stand in the way!

The chief gunslinger ans band producer Lazy Brad Lewis (LBL Band, Brother Weasel, The Soulcasters, Will Ray) plays everything from lead guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro and anything else with strings. He is truly The Nob Hill Billys secret weapon. You gotta hear this guy apickin'!

Playing the Upright Bass is Dick “Fireball” Sanchez (Atomic Men, Tweed & The Creeps)who pounds out the heart of the band with a heavy slap of the hand. He sure keeps the music coming at you. He is truly an important member of The Nob Hill Billys!

Pounding out the heart stopping drums is the late Rich Wright (Tattoed Rodeo) who gaves the group a solid foundation and a crisp beat to keep the dancers on the floor swinging! At one time the backbone to the early alt. country band Tattoo Rodeo, he really makes The Nob Hill Billys tent show an event!

With special guests Paul Sercu (Thrasher Cadillac, Faith River Worship) on banjo, Slim Latimer on pedal steel & Chris Murphy (Larry Taylor, DJ Bonebrake, Nels Cline) on fiddle giving this band the right western touch, there ain't no place to be other than this Rock & Roll hillbilly show. So come get down, dance, twist, contort, yodel, shout & save your soul with The Nob Hill Billys!

Marvellous!
The whole album comes together nicely. Lyrics, vocals and instruments blend wonderfully. The songs stay in your head and the lyrics are thoughtful too. Good one :-)
