Né en Belgique, Noël Samyn a étudié au Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles sous la direction de François Daneels et y obtint un premier prix avec grande distinction.
De 1978 à 2003 il fut titulaire de la classe de saxophone au Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Hull. Membre du Quatuor de saxophones SAXART, il se produisit également avec l’ensemble Contretemps/Go avec qui il enregistra un CD en 1996.
Invité régulièrement par la Société Radio-Canada, Noël Samyn a enregistré plus de 50 œuvres dont quatre créations mondiales. Plusieurs de ses compositions sont éditées à Paris et à Québec. Ses « neuf études transcendantes » se retrouvent au programme des conservatoires et universités européennes et américaines ainsi qu’au Japon.. En 1998 il était invité comme membre du jury au deuxième Concours International de saxophone « Adolphe Sax » de Dinant en Belgique.
Pendant l’été 2000, il a enregistré un disque compact « SAX-LIB » avec le pianiste Bao-Luan Nguyen, sur lequel on y retrouve deux de ses compositions.

Noël Samyn, a saxophonist of Belgian origin, studied at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles with François Daneels, where he received first prize with great distinction.
He has been a regular guest on CBC radio, for whom he has recorded more than 50 works, including four world premieres.
Several of his works are published in Paris and in Québec. His “Nine transcending etudes” are included in the programs of such prestigious schools as the conservatoires in Belgium, France and the Netherlands as well as universities of Australia and the USA.
Samyn has been a professor at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Hull from 1978 to 2003. Member of the SAXART saxophone quartet, he often appears with the Contretemps/Go ensemble. (CD in 1996)
In 1998, he was member of the jury at the 2nd International Saxophone Competition in Dinant (Belgium). In 2000 he produced a new CD "SAX-LIB" with pianist Bao Luan Nguyen.
