Album Notes
The first CD release from No Explanations features guitarist, Dan Leonard, and pianist, Mark Christopher Brandt, in an eclectic, flowing blend of jazz, folk, country, and fusion styles.

In 1993, Mark and Dan began collaborating together with the intention of touring and recording in an eclectic “dream band” which would cover all the musical styles they enjoyed playing from folk and country, to European classical, to rock, fusion, and jazz. Due to circumstances beyond their control, the duo was forced to split up and travel different directions for many years. The bond was held together by the two musicians with annual Chinese food luncheons and a tenacious grip on the dream band idea.

No Explanations is the fulfillment of this dream and it promises to be a wonderful and enjoyable journey for the musicians and the fans alike. The first CD is appropriately titled Round Trip and it spans 16 years of collaboration and friendship, beginning with five songs recorded in 1997 and another 6 songs written for this CD and recorded in 2013. Thanks to the skills of mastering engineer Bill McElroy, Slipped Disc audio, one cannot easily discern which songs were recorded in 1997 and which songs were recorded in 2013.

This CD is truly a work of art on every level with regard to the engineering, mastering, musicianship and the visual presentation. Like all great works of art, Round Trip is an uplifting commentary on the human condition which welcomes listeners from all walks of life to participate in the journey with the musicians. The chops that these two musicians wield are vehicles for deep personal expression rather than tools for esoteric and haughty improvisations. In short, Mark and Dan are real people, with real stories, and you hear that in their music.
