Album Notes
~Beyond Mauna Kea’s significance to our culture and people, in the current day, it serves as a beacon of unification for the people of Hawaiʻi and the world . Mauna Kea is a catalyst for greater awareness and caring for our sacred places across our pae ʻāina (Islands). No matter how much or how little you have committed to the movement of aloha ʻāina (respect and love for the land), we each have a kuleana (responsibility) and a way to kōkua (help) causes like this. This mele (song) serves as a makana (gift) to kanaka (people) both near and far who care for our honua (world). ~Holeka Inaba

The beautiful harmonious voice of Jonah Kahanoula Solatorio and the melodic ancestral chanting of Holeka Inaba will take you on a musical journey to Hawai'i Island where Pu'uhuluhulu and Mauna kea both reside. The musical composition written by Pat and Scarlet Eskildsen laid the underlying foundation upon which this mele blossomed and took form. We dedicate this mele to the protectors, the kūpuna and kiaʻ of Mauna Kea who stand vigilant against further desecration of these precious lands. Part of the proceeds from this project will be gifted to PUʻUHONUA O PUʻUHULUHULU to help further the efforts on the Mauna.
