ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Here's what legendary drummer Peter Erskine says about Nori:

As far as I’m concerned, one of the more welcome sounds in jazz is the flute. The flute is the closest instrument to the sound of the voice (its breathy quality) as well as the sounds to be found in nature (specifically, bird calls). So, the flute can render a melody with utter beauty and take the listener from the confines of his or her listening space to the great outdoors, the world outside that surrounds us. Of course, the flute must be in the hands of an artist to accomplish such musical magic. Nori Tani performs this magic on his debut solo album. The fact that he made it with friends and titles the album as such reflects his giving and grateful character. Nori is one of those people who makes friends easily. I’ve long known that he has a great heart. Making this album, I learned to respect his great ear and talent. It’s high time that he shares his gift with the world … his time has arrived.

Congratulations, Nori … and welcome.

Peter Erskine
