ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Nubim is a composer. In her music, elements from the jazz and the Impressionistic modal classical music is tightly weaved like woof and weft. On top of it, colorful and rich instrumental arrangement embellish the weave of composition .

‘Between Silence And Light’ is a totally new arrangement of her first album, ‘Yellow Woods (2008)’. She rather focuses on the arrangement than her piano performance. Oboe, cello, accordion and percussion play the main role in the new arrangement, with the sprinkle of vivid piano and vocal sound. Nubim herself prefers to describe her music as ‘a sound painting’, which is true to her composition. When you listen to Nubim’s music, it is just like an Impressionist paints the vividly changing color of nature on a canvas; which sounds like a minimalistic version of Ravel's work. Oboe and percussion create 2 dimensional tension while accordion and cello give a 3-dimensional depth to the plane. Although Nubim plays the piano for three pieces in the album, the beauty of the arrangement is dissolved in every notes of the music. This album is the triumph of arrangement.
