Gothenburg 1994-02-28:
Once in a while there comes along a band that has a sound immediately recognizable yet somehow tinged with a unique touch. Nymphet Noodlers is definitely one of them. When listening to their music, traces of Stones, Stooges, Zappa, MC-5 and a multitude of other influences filters trough their tracks, but somehow these Swedes manage to use these influences to create something that is vibrant, alive and contemporary. Especially the use of different layers of instrument as cello, trumpet, acoustic guitars and keyboards makes their music breathe with both rawness and finesse.

In Sweden they´re fairly alone in pursuing their style of music. However there is one band which Nymphet Noodlers has both musical and personal connections to. Union Carbide Productions was during a couple of years Swedens most promising rock´n roll band. Rave reviews both here and abroad, and recognition given from acts as REM and Nirvana were proof that Carbide was a band of stature. Unfortunately Union Carbide Productions folded years ago and the band members has pursued different musical paths. During Carbides touring days Nymphet Noodlers singer Mattias Hellberg befriended Carbide vocalist Ebbot Lundberg. This led to Ebbot producing and participating musically on the band´s fullength debut album, "Going Abroad".

For all fans of Union Carbide Productions and quality rock´n roll in general Nymphet Noodlers is a godsend. Live the band emmanates the same energy and anything-can-happen vibe as Carbide used to, and at the same time on record they tranced the distorted fuzzsound of their mentors and instead deliver a more orchastrated sound.

Many prominent Swedish musicians has expressed their liking of Nymphet Noodlers, among them we find recently Geffen-signed HC-band Mary Beats Jane, members of critically acclaimed Fleshquartet, Clawfinger and the Leather Nun.

Hopefully these young men in their mid twenties will continue to spread their tantalizing blend of Detroit-rock, jazz, Stones and acoustic sixties style and, with a little bit of luck, get the recognition they duly deserve.
