Album Notes
Ocacia's first album was released in 1999. The original members of the group were 'Alik Shahadah (Piano/Bass), Natasha Odlum (voice), David Hadley (Bass), Brian McCooke (drums), in recent years Ocacia has included vocalist and instrumentalist such as Sona Jobarteh (If I...) and Pinky Dlaba (KwaMashu and Come into the Sunshine).

Ocacia an international smooth soul jazz funk studio group. Ocacia is known for their socially conscious music which was featured on the UNESCO award winning film 500 Years Later as well as the multi-award winning film Motherland. The music is characterized by some as "escapist" in the usage of space, chords and ethnic overtones.

Music in Africa was always socially responsible, the griots of West Africa held more than a station of mere entertainers. They reported and serviced the conscious of the people. Ocacia is a return to that African tradition with deep social roots. We believe that music is a powerful vehicle for the deeper enlightenment and unification of all mankind. A vehicle of limitless expression and artistic creativity. And so we come to you .

Abdolutely wonderful sounds coming from Ocacia. Listen to when relaxing or to relax. I play this album whenever I can, driving, background music and for entertainment. I do hope that you make a purchese and enjoy it as much as I do.
