Lost In Translation

by Ola Löfvén

Löfvén´s first instrumental guitar album, perhaps a bit different than what we are used to. After many years of playing and writing, he now focuses on his own unique style. The result is a mix of soft jazz, rock and blues for the broader audience.

Album Notes
So who am I? Artists are often given the question what other artists and bands inspire them. And suddenly that information is presented as a statement that say´s "I sound like artist x". I don´t necessarily sound like the artists that inspire me.

I don´t have any desire to do so. In my opinion, one of the greatest bands in the world is Rush. But you will probably never hear me in a tune that sounds like them. Nor will I ever sound like John Scofield or Eric Johnson.
I have never had the desire to show off with technical guitar playing at hyper speed. Partly because I cannot say I master the technique as Steve Morse or Shawn Lane, but also a lot because I don´t want to sound that way. I want to sound like me. And that is one thing I´m very proud of, to say to you that I actually sound just the way I want. I somehow find the melodies that I like, and the moves and phrasing that may be..not beautiful to all listeners..and not necessarily technically brilliant..but one hundred percent me! I really hope you too will enjoy my music. I hope you can bare with me in my mood swings, going in and out of different styles, and sometimes playing the electric guitar in a way that your not supposed to. I hope you will join me an a musical ride that has no clear destination. I have been playing the guitar for decades, including a "musical mental pause" of some 12 years. Today I feel a great joy of writing and playing the music I want. I feel no pressure of any need for success, and I don´t pay too much attention to traditional or conservative rules in my music. The past may inspire me, but the future drives my creativity. Relax, open up your mind, listen and enjoy!
