Album Notes
Old Ties is Allison Williams & Willi Goehring. This album is a snapshot of the last three years of us playing oldtime music together. It represents learning, and arguing, good times and hard times, and the love we both bear for this music, and our Ozark community. Thank you all.

1. TROUBLES (2:24) - from Kilby Snow - Willi's version has some slightly altered verses... we chalk it up to the folk process.
2. ADEIU FALSE HEART (2:35) - from Fiddlin' Arthur Smith - Allison first learned this duet with Chance McCoy.
3. SAL’S GOT A MEATSKIN (2:39) - from the Carlisle Brothers - A favorite among the Asheville, NC gang.
4. HARD TIMES (2:44) - Stephen Foster - Allison learned this version from Tom Bailey, who always filled it with feeling and grit. Willi learned it as a boy from his mother.
5. TURNIP GREENS (3:12) - from Neil Morris - Willi learned this before he knew Morris was Jimmie Driftwood's old man.
6. I'M A LONG TIME TRAVELLING HERE BELOW (1:49) - from Almeda Riddle and the Sacred Harp hymnal, "White," 288
7. POOR MAN, RICH MAN (2:55) - David McCarn - Part of the "Cotton Mill Colic" series.
8. MY OZARK MOUNTAIN HOME (2:32) - from George Edgin's Corn Dodgers - We will all just be the same/ when we meet there in the shadow of the clay.
9. I ONLY WANT A BUDDY, NOT A SWEETHEART (2:47) - from Walker's Corbin Ramblers
10. PROSPECT (1:38) - from the Sacred Harp hymnal, "Prospect," 30b
11. FINLEY CREEK BLUES (2:03) - from Vesta Johnson - Played here as a breakdown, Bob Holt plays another great version of this Ozark classic as a two-step.
12. OLD TIES (2:43) - from Uncle Dave Macon - The sweetest divorce song we know. We argued over the provenance of it when we first met- Willi knew it from Vance Randolph field recordings, and Allison from Uncle Dave.
13. TO CANAAN'S LAND I'M ON MY WAY (2:58) - William Golden - Allison sang this with Susan Pepper at Laurel Bloomery.
