ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
An intense and dynamic sound consisting of acoustic guitar, hammered dulcimer, and tabla by Aneal, Naryan, and Ravi Padmanabha. The brothers explore classical and contemporary Indian music styles by blending Western instruments into a classical setting, allowing for infinite improvisational explorations.
*About the Disc*
Track 1.)Padmasana- meaning "Lotus Pose", features a short alap (free-time exploration of notes) then dives into traditional improvization in a light and melodious key. What's particularly exciting about this track is the experimentaion of time. As is Classical Indian music, musicians divide beats into intervals that eventually fit into the original time signature. Count along with the rhythm and you will enjoy how it tricks the ear. track length 22:55

Track 2.)"Laya Nadi"-meaning "rhythm conduit", this special track features the South Indian classical percussion instrument called the Kanjira. A small, lizard skinned drum that can be flexed to change it's pitch. Also, the track features the Persian santoor and acoustic guitar. This 9:27 tune is full energy and mystery. Set in mood of a minor key that will have you hanging on every beat.

Track 3.)"Visarjana"-meaning "departure/farewell", the piece explores many moods, mostly light and positive improvizations. With as much intensity as the other tunes, "Visarjana" climaxes the listening experience and with leave the ear pleased.

The Padmanabha brothers can be seen in various compasities. They have been involved in many projects and featured on over 20 released CD recordings and are now part of the
epoch music record label.
