Album Notes
In the summer 2013 Early Music America Magazine issue, the reviewer Tom Moore wrote about debut album of Amazonas Baroque Ensemble: a valuable cd… soprano Mirian Abad display world-class talent with a beautifully produced tone, technical expertise, expressive coloratura and most importantly an unmistakable flair for the dramatic. Marcio Pascoa, flutist and director make a good case in two galant concertos… let's hope for more such work from Amazonas Baroque Ensemble.
Now we have a new selection of unpublished arias from great 18th century unknown high masters like Perez, Piccinni, Teixeira and Nunes Garcia. Five of nine tracks are performed by Mirian Abad, delivering stunning interpretations, running from the coloratura to lyrical and dramatic works. Marcio Pascoa conducts the 15 person period instruments orchestra, from the 1st flute seat.
The stuff recorded in this cd comes from archives once belonged to Opera Nova theater (1778-1809) of Rio de Janeiro. These arias and respective operas ran many brazilian cities at those times, from coastal cities to amazon villages.
Opera in 18th century Brazil is an experience to rediscover frontiers of the music
