ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album project taking 3 years to complete was a journey of tenacity, inspiration, exhilaration to a unexpected transition. I was honored to be asked by Ortheia Barnes Detroit's Walk of Fame, legendary singer and at the time TV host to do something together musically. I was a guest and was asked on air to work together. Her history went from singing/doing shows with the likes of the Original Funk Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, and the list goes on. I wrote a duet for us titled Don't Play Me as a first effort. However when I went to Arizona and had a health challenge I was inspired by remembering her voice to write 10 songs and present them to her for comments. She said Paul I like them all. I was shocked and happy. I wanted to dedicate an album for Mature women and thought what better person than her.. "The Queen in Me", I Was the One, My Dignity, "I Get Weary", "Life Can Give You The Blues" are those personal songs all women can identify with. Knowing her background in the spiritual realm as a Reverend, "Somebody Tell Me"," Heaven Bound", "Its A Battle" all deal with the human being factor of life, religion, and our mortality. "Here Tonight" is about a family reunion where the grown folks come around and have a great time, great food and great conversation. "The Dreamer in You" speaks of the hope for the future and our possibilities as a connected human race. As we know all things derive from thoughts... This song is for everyone. The album is a mix of Gospel, Blues, and filled with the spirit of the late Ortheia Barnes-Kennerly . She won 3 Detroit Music Awards-2016 with this album. Outstanding Gospel/Christian Recording, Vocalist, and Songwriter. I gave her songwriting credit with the album we co-produced because I was inspired by her. She did get to hear the final mix and approved. I was the messeger and she delivered Big Time !! RIP , love Paul
