ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Osama Meleegi & family

Osama Meleegi (Osama Mohammad Gismalla Mogash ) was born in Kharthoum. His father, Mohammed Gismallah Mogash, is a well known violin player and music teacher and his eight brothers all play percussion. After finishing the College for Music and Drama, he became a member of the famous groups 'Samandal' and ' I'qd al Jalaad'. At the moment he plays with the Dutch 'Arabicana' group 'No Blues' and the ' Haytham Saffia Qu4rtet', and is a very respected session musician in the international world music community.
This album is his first solo project; the basic tracks were recorded in the Netherlands and then sent to Sudan where his brothers and musical friends joined in. The result is a unique mix of traditional Sudanese sounds and rhythms, original compositions and fine musical craftmanship.

Osama Meleegi dedicates this album to his beloved wife and parents
