Album Notes
No one is going to lie to you and tell you that this CD is in any way groundbreaking, earthshattering or even surprising. It is, in fact, a quite unremarkable thing that quite ordinarily opens like any other CD and is inserted into your player just like all the other free CD's you've gotten from any number of sniffysnaff labels from new york to van nuys. There are 9 tracks featuring the usual instrumentation of guitar, bass, drums and vocals. These tracks are not wholly unlike bands that you may have heard before, specifically: Guided By Voices, The Who, XTC, Big Star, Death Cab For Cutie, Pavement, They Might Be Giants, Weezer, The Jazz Butcher, The Fall, Echo and The Bunnymen and Gloria Estefan. As is the case with most of the mail thrown onto your desk begging your attention, this recording has notable tidbits of particular interest to those who might like to know what the contents sound like prior to listening in order to save time and avoid amateurish offerings that ARE remarkable, groundbreaking, eathshattering or even surprising in a negative context:

Tidbit 1. The recording has guest appearances Willy Tyler (Silver Jews, Lambchop), Ashlynn Phillips (The Eames Era) and Brian Danos and Sam Anselmo (Reception Is Suspected).
Tidbit 2. The recording was made by Fred Weaver.
Tidbit 3. The recording is in part the soundtrack to the recently released video "South By South Death" from Chunklet.
Tidbit 4. The track "2 The Bedroom" was used in a viral advert for the movie "Fast Food Nation" with sadly tanked at the box office through no fault of Otasco.
Tidbit 5. The members of Otasco star in a Blue Cross Blue Shield commercial for Hurricane Katrina. This may well be unrelated to these recordings but since everyone else is using Katrina as an excuse for self-promotion and since frontman Dag Luther Gooch had to relocate to Los Angeles because of it, we thought you'd like to know.
Tidbit 6. Gooch also stars in "South By South Death" as well as "The Buckshot Boys" also from Chunklet, viral ads for the movie "Little Miss Sunshine" and commercials for Cox Communications, Harley Davidson and Blue Cross, but he does not think himself as an actor.
Tidbit 7. Gooch also did much of the artwork and animation in the Stone Sour video "Sillyworld," whose lead singer and lead guitarist are also in the metal band Slipknot.

Hopefully this mostly relevant information will have persuaded you to go and have a listen.
