All Downhill from Here

by Paddy's Pig

With top-notch songwriting and great melodies that feels like traditional Irish music, coupled with traditional songs that feel modern, the pathos and wit of "All Downhill From Here" is Paddy's Pig's latest entry into the Irish folk/rock scene.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
2019 release recorded in Los Angeles and Santa Ana, CA.

Instruments used: mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, tenor and 5-string banjo, electric and acoustic bass, tin whistle, violin, drums/percussion, music box.

On the fun side there's "The Hole In Me Pocket", about that person you know who never buys a round at the bar; "Church and Drinking", about, well, those things; "Clancy's Other Life" inspired by a friend's amazing real-life exploits; "No Man Tells This Man", a swaggering braggart who maybe doesn't wear the trousers in his family.... and "Barnacle Mary", another familiar nightlife character.

On the darker side there's "Promised Land" and its coda, contrasting philosophies about religion and a finite life; "It's All Downhill From Here", "Good Old Days" and the frightening "Dirge".

Fantastic instrumentals - "Late Harvest Jig" featuring tenor banjo and fiddle, "Denny's Lament", as sweet, sad and lovely as it gets.

And traditional songs - I Wish I Was A Maid Again, Garryowen, The Auld Triangle.

Enjoy!
