Album Notes
"the utterly unique and overwhelmingly creative frank pahl wants to do it all, or so it seems. and so far he's made a pretty good dent on that "all," being an award winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, instrument inventor, toy/electronics tinker, and improviser who has made music for film, art installations, dance, cabaret and theater. this, in addition to his acclaimed solo albums and material with the avantfolk outfit only a mother.
pahl channels his wartime outrage with humor and off center songweaving on his latest, songs of war and peace." - ernest paik

"... a playing field where ukelele ike, charles ives and don van vliet meet in an avantgarde adjunct to the soundworld of taking tiger mountain or bone machine ... a humourously dark funhouse of musical creativity." - metro times

"this is the kind of music you don't hear often, even in avantgarde circles. it allies genius and cuteness!" - amg

The best protest album in decades.
Frank Pahl is very well known for his thoroughly experimental but always catchy instrumentation, often played on obscure, and sometimes mechanically-automated instruments. His song-writing, similarly, is known for its bizarre sense of humor. All these aspects of his musical persona have come into focus on this, his latest solo album, more concisely then ever. It is also imbued with the deepest sense of sociopolitical awareness I have heard on an album in a long time, especially given a contemporary indie music scene which is so afraid to be political.
